Tape Rewinding & Slitting

What is Tape Rewinding & Slitting?

Rewinding and slitting is the process of unwinding a large tape log — often 63” wide and 3,000 yards long — cutting it into narrower strips, and winding those strips back onto cores. The process is often necessary for distributors and manufacturers looking to customize tape length and core, and is common when tight tolerances are required for higher volume converting jobs.

Our rewinding & slitting services help you:
  • Increase SKU variety with different size tape rolls
  • Achieve tighter tolerance slits at higher volumes
  • Customize tapes for specific workflows or tasks
Razor Cut or Crush Cut Slitting?

Razor Cut or Crush Cut Slitting?

Razor cut slitting is a highly precise method of breaking bulk rolls down into narrower sizes. This method uses razor blades mounted in-place to slice master logs as they unroll. It’s ideal for tapes with uniform thickness.

Crush cut slitting works by unwinding a master log and passing it through two crush blades affixed at the top and bottom of the tape surface. This method is ideal for converting tapes with variable thickness such as foams or abrasive materials like anti-slip tapes and fabrics.

TapeCase offers both methods of slitting, and our experts are here to help you pick the ideal method for your desired converted tape product.
